Northern Lights Inspired Makeup

The coolest part of my job is that I get to travel around the globe as a makeup artist, I have the pleasure of doing makeup in the most interesting places in the world and have had the opportunity to see and be inspired by things that others can only dream of seeing or doing. For example, I was hired to go out to Alaska and do makeup for one of my clients who was covering a story for the weather channel which involved cannon's photography workshop on how to shoot the northern lights. It was one of most breath taking experience I have ever had. Here, sparked my inspiration for creating this makeup look that was inspired by the Aurora Borealis also known as the northern lights. 

Step 1

Fill in brows using Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip brow Pomadein the color ebony using a thin eyeliner brush like Makeup Forever's EXTRA FINE EYELINER BRUSH

Step 2

I always start off with my eye makeup, for this eye makeup I primed my eye lids with M.A.C's Pro Longwear Paint Pot in the color Painterly using a small fluffy brush like the Tom Ford Eye Shadow Blending Brush using small circular buffing motions from lash line up to brow bone and sweep this product beneath the lower lash line using the Tom Ford Smokey Eye Brush. This acts as a first eyeshadow layer and also helps the eyeshadow to lash longer! Who doesn't want that! So be sure not to skip this step! 

Step 3

Using the Huda Beauty Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette in the color Mauve and a soft blending brush like the Tom Ford Eye Shadow Blend Brush apply the soft matt rose pink color to the crease of your eyes using back and forth motion in what I call a wind-shield wiper motion. Literally! Apply this same color underneath the lash line with the same brush to create a soft drop shadow. 

Step 4

Apply the darker plum/purple shade to the outer corners your eyes using a precision brush like the Tom Ford Smokey Eye Brush and layer this color to make really intense and blend with soft blending brush. 

Step 5

Apply Urban Decay's 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencil in the color whiskey along the top and bottom lash line and pull outwards and into the crease to create even more depth and to get that smokey effect.. Make sure to sharpen and keep your pencil point thin a possible,using a dense brush to smudge the liner.

Step 6 

Finish this look with lots of mascara! I usedStila Huge Extreme Lash Mascara.
